THE WEATHER DIARIES - NOVEMBER 2020

THE GRAND PACIFIC DRIVE IS ONE OF THE MOST BREATHTAKING ROUTES IN AUSTRALIA.

STARTING IN THE ROYAL NATIONAL PARK SOUTH OF SYDNEY, IT CROSSES THE SEA CLIFF BRIDGE AND CONTINUES THROUGH THE MINI-CITIES OF WOLLONGONG, SHELL HARBOUR, KIAMA TO NOWRA ON A TOTAL LENGTH OF 140 KILOMETRES.

KILOMETRES OF SUB-TROPICAL FORESTS, HIDDEN VILLAGES IN THE ESCARPMENT, BEAUTIFUL TEMPLES, ENDLESS BEACHES, SECRET COVES, AMAZING CAFES, BARS AND RESTAURANTS AND PRIVATE RETREATS. THERE ARE SOME OF THE MOST CONSISTENT SURF BREAKS AND THE COOLEST SURF STORES, HIGH VISTAS LOOK OUTS, WORLD FAMOUS VINEYARDS, HISTORICAL ECO-FARMS, VINTAGE AERODROMES AND MOTOR MUSEUMS PLUS MANY LOCAL GALLERIES FEATURING ARTISTS FROM THE CREATIVE COMMUNITIES ALONG THE COAST. THERE IS EVERYTHING FOR THE CULTURE VULTURE TO THE EXTREME SPORT ENTHUSIAST. THE FOODIE TO THE FESTIVAL LOVER.

AS EVERYONE ELSE HEADS NORTH TO THE CROWDS OF BYRON BAY AND SURFERS PARADISE, THOSE IN THE KNOW HEAD SOUTH TO THE LAST OF THE HIDDEN JEWELS OF AUSTRALIA.

PREVIOUSLY A VITAL INFRASTRUCTURE PORT REGION THAT BUILT THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE COUNTRY, THIS HARDWORKING SOCIETY HAS BLOSSOMED INTO A DIVERSE ARRAY OF ARTS COMMUNITIES, SPORTS DESTINATIONS IN AN EXPANSE OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY. THE ILLAWARRA AND ITS HEROIC COAST-HUGGING ROUTE HAS BECOME SYDNEY’S BEST-KEPT SECRET WITH ITS FRIENDLY LOCALS AND RELAXED WELCOME.

IN OUR ADVENTURES WE WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU SOME OF THE THINGS YOU MAY BE MISSING SO WHEN YOU DO RETURN YOU WILL HAVE PLACES YOU WILL WANT TO EXPLORE. THERE IS SO MUCH TO EXPERIENCE BUT HALF THE JOY IS JUST GETTING HERE, ALONG THE GRAND PACIFIC DRIVE.

COME AND CHECK OUT WHERE WE CALL HOME BY FOLLOWING OUR JOURNAL, THE WEATHER DIARIES (INSPIRED BY THE SURF ALBUM BY RIDE).
